Vulastik Coupling

American Vulkan Vulastik L couplings use an extremely compact design for more efficient engines with high power density. Styles are available which allow the element to be replaced without moving the adjacent machinery.

Torque range: 383 to 38,353 lb-ft (0.52 to 52 kNm)

Vulkardan Coupling

American Vulkan Vulkardan couplings dampen torsional vibration and compensate for raial, axial, and angular misalignment. This coupling is designed for freestanding engine installations. Different element properties are available to best fit the requirements of your application.

Torque range: 154 to 60,406 lb-ft (0.21 to 81.9 kNm)

Rato Coupling

American Vulkan Rato couplings are torsionally flexible and compensate for radial, axial, and angular misalignment. They can be used on both flexibly and rigidly mounted engines. Couplings are designed for maximum heat dissipation and long life.

Torque range: 5,900 to 5,900,000 lb-ft (8 to 800 kNm)

Megiflex B Coupling

The Megliflex B coupling by American Vulkan is a versatile coupling with a modular design. The coupling is torsionally soft and has high misalignment capabilities. It’s also designed with a built-in failsafe device.

Torque range: 7 to 2,304 lb-ft (0.010 to 3.125 kNm)

Meslu Clutches

American Vulkan Meslu clutches are dry-running, pneumatically actuated double-cone clutches. They operate backlash-free and produce no axial load. Friction lining wear is automatically compensated for.

Torque range: 5,900 to 232,332 lb-ft (8 to 315 kNm)

Propflex Couplings

American Vulkan Propflex couplings isolate driveline vibrations, reducing noise better than conventional displacement couplings. These couplings also compensate for radial, axial, and angular misalignment.

Torque range: 2,065 to 39,238 lb-ft (2.8 to 53.2 kNm)

T Series Mounts

American Vulkan’s T Series mounts are developed for optimal insulation and comfort. Several different versions are available to suit your application. All mounts have a built-in centralized limiter to protect against extreme displacements that may result from the ship’s movements.

Load range: 900 to 29,450 lbf (4 to 131 kN)

VDM Series Mounts

American Vulkan VDM Series mounts ensure insulation and comfort in your system. Several rubber formulations are available in order to optimize your system. All mounts have a built-in centralized limiter to protect against extreme displacements that may result from the ship’s movements.

Load range: 90 to 1,776 lbf (0.4 to 7.9 kN)
Typical applications: Ship drives, pumps, fans, compressors, generator units

MDS2 Monitoring System

The American Vulkan MDS2 monitoring system measures the twist angle of couplings or composite shafts. MDS2 can be used as a monitoring device to help plan preventative maintenance, or as a safety device in combination with a clutch to disengage and protect the drivetrain from overload.

Torvib Monitoring System

The American Vulkan Torvib monitoring system measures either vibratory amplitudes on the flywheel or the vibratory twist angle across a coupling. The system can detect engine/motor overloading, resonances, and engine misfiring.
