As a privately owned company with a solid line of continuous experience dating back to 1732, The Rowland Company has the technical ability to meet the marine propulsion and deck equipment needs of naval and commercial vessels. We offer solutions for many marine applications including propulsion shaft bearings, winches and propulsion clutches from brand names like Eaton, Wichita Clutch and Thordon to mention a few.

For most applications, our standard product lines meet the requirements for marine brake and clutch uses. We use a variety of woven, non-metallic and engineered plastic materials capable of withstanding the rigorous conditions to ensure trouble-free operation, especially when the nearest repair facility may be hundreds of miles away. These products are pressure-tested to hold under conditions up to 130 psi.

However, the average age of many marine vessels is just under 20 years and as result, retrofitting older vessels with newer technology can be difficult. Our skilled engineers understand the challenge and we manufacture products incorporating modern technology that is adaptable to fit older vessels. These products often work well without modification. Still, we do offer engineering, machining and fabrication services to address custom projects if required.
